SPRING BREAK AT THE MUSEUM
From February 28 to March 8, 2026 let your creativity flow!

Presented by Desjardins, Spring Break Week at the MBAS offers a whirlwind of fun activities for the whole family!

Set against the enchanting backdrop of the exhibitions De qualité fantaisie and Gordon et Henri vont se balader en ville, visitors of all ages are invited to discover a wide variety of artistic activities: exploring metal repoussé printmaking, impro‑dance with Nicolas Zemmour, a visit of De qualité fantaisie in the dark, a circus‑themed virtual reality experience with La FAB, face painting inspired by famous artworks, t‑shirt screen‑printing with Ultra Nan, a creative encounter with artist Lysanne Picard, and much more! In total, around thirty activities spread over 9 days of pure fun!

What’s more, thanks to the generous support of Desjardins, Thursday, March 5 is free for everyone.

10:30 AM to 12:00 PM: FAMILY CREATION WORKSHOP 
Exploration of watercolor techniques and watercolor pencils(Target age: 4-5 years)
In the style of artist Roxanne Bergeron

In Roxane Bergeron’s drawing, we can decipher the features of a woman’s face from which soft, diffused color seems to emerge. Children are invited to explore watercolor freely, first by placing random shapes on the paper, then gradually adding lines to reveal faces that emerge from the colors.

Did you know that the Sherbrooke Museum of Fine Arts is housed in the former Eastern Townships Bank (1876)? Accompanied by a mediator, explore the remains and artifacts of our heritage building and discover the exceptional works of Serge Lemoyne, Rita Letendre, Marcelle Ferron, and more. SUNDAY, MARCH 1, 2026
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM: ART HIVE PRESENTED BY

La Ruche is a space for well‑being, connection, and inclusion, rooted in a philosophy of making the arts accessible to all. Everyone is welcomed as an artist, regardless of their level of knowledge or technical abilities.

Participants receive personalized support from art therapist Sara Giard Pagé and a museum mediator. A wide variety of creative materials is available. There are no instructions; instead, autonomous experiences of creativity, learning, and sharing of skills are encouraged. At the beginning of the activity, a work from the Sherbrooke Museum of Fine Arts collection is presented as an introduction to the session, followed by an art‑therapy exercise related to the theme.

This March Art Hive is an invitation to bring more playfulness into our daily lives, under the theme Child’s Play, Giant Laughter. Wishing you joyful creation and meaningful encounters!

 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM: IMPRO‑DANCE WITH NICOLAS ZEMMOUR (For all)

Immersed in the world of the exhibition Henri et Gordon vont se balader en ville, Nicolas Zemmour presents a dance performance inspired by Tanya Morand’s paintings and the themes she explores. In a playful and participatory format, the audience is invited to speak up and make suggestions that will guide the performance. Children and adults alike contribute to imagining and co‑creating the choreography alongside the performer.

Biography:
Nicolas Zemmour is a performer and choreographer passionate about exploring the interactions between the body, space, and the natural environment. His practice moves between abstraction and emotion, using movement to question our relationships with the world around us. His work is characterized by a participatory and collaborative approach, inviting the audience to co‑create the artistic experience. He is the director of ZemmourBallet, the resident company at the CASJB.

MONDAY, MARCH 2, 2026
9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: FAMILY CREATION WORKSHOP 
Exploration of Printmaking Techniques (Target age: 4-5 years)
In the style of artist PUDLO PUDLAT

Inspired by the work of Inuit artist Pudlo Pudlat, children will create a print that evokes the territory’s flora and fauna using a simple printing technique. In addition, a variety of ink stamps will be available to help complete and decorate their composition.

During this workshop, participants are introduced to an abstract artwork created by artist Fernand Toupin. Both young and older visitors are invited to explore the various textures produced by the juxtaposition of materials by creating their own impasto using tissue paper.

This playful and original experience is followed by a creative workshop where you will produce an artwork using elements that react to black light.

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM: 360° Virtual Reality Experience with La FAB (Target age: 12 years and

Join the FAB team for a virtual reality experience!
Following their show Animal, the Cirque Alfonse clan offers a 360‑degree performance filmed on the farm, set to music that blends Québécois trad with soul. This moment of magic, power, and acrobatics was captured in Lanaudière, the Québec region where Cirque Alfonse was born. Since their beginnings in 2005, each of the company’s shows has drawn inspiration from themes rooted in Québec’s cultural heritage. After exploring the worlds of lumberjacks, old‑time fairs, and the church, the troupe now invites us to discover a rural setting where strength and poetry meet.

Dive into one of the greatest mysteries in art history: in 1911, Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting The Mona Lisa vanished from the Louvre Museum! Follow the story of this iconic artwork and the event that turned it into a world‑renowned masterpiece, then create the frame that will showcase all your own creations.

This activity invites you to let your creativity flow in the light‑hearted spirit of naïve art. Using construction paper and acrylic paint, children will create a small character inspired by the bold shapes and bright colors of Dimanche après‑midi by artist Jacques Barbeau.

Creation of a construction paper mobile ( Target age: 4-5 years )
In the style of artist MICHEL PIMPARÉ

Families are invited to create a pretty decorative mobile depicting a tiger camouflaged through the creepers and leaves of the jungle, directly inspired by the work La porte du tigre et de l’oiseau by artist Michel Pimparé. This workshop will enable youngsters to discover acrylic markers while assembling a three-dimensional object using materials such as string, glue and wooden sticks.

Create an Ultra‑Cool, Mega‑Awesome T‑Shirt in the Style of ULTRA NAN

MBAS mediators are looking forward to welcoming you in large numbers to create a collective mural on the flamboyant theme of fire! Using a small wooden panel, children and their parents will trace charcoal and grease pencil motifs inspired by the works of André Fournelle and Marc Garneau. At the end of the day, a lovely mosaic mural in warm colors will create a collective work of art.

1:00 PM – 3:30 PM : Face painting for kids inspired by famous paintings! (For all)

Join the party of artistic greats! Children will choose from among the most famous paintings before having their faces painted by a mediator. Kandinsky, Monet, Hokusai, Henri Rousseau, Van Gogh… which great painter will you choose to make up your face?

Starting at 1 p.m., mascot Noisette will be on hand to take a stroll through the forest with all her friends! And don’t forget to take part in the plant identification game you’ll come across on the trail. Build up your herbarium and discover how to identify the botanical species that inhabit our territory. Don’t worry, MBAS mediators will be on hand to help you complete the trail!
