DE L’INFINIMENT GRAND À L’INFINIMENT PETIT
Parcours Photo Sherbrooke is a major cultural and tourism event dedicated to celebrating and promoting photography throughout the Eastern Townships. Born from the initiative of passionate regional photographers, it is made possible through the collaboration of Destination Sherbrooke, the City of Sherbrooke, the Sherbrooke Museum of Fine Arts, the Sherbrooke Photo Club, and the Jacques-Cartier Arts and Culture Committee. The City extends its gratitude to the organizing committee, composed of the Sherbrooke Museum of Fine Arts and the Jacques-Cartier Arts and Culture Committee.
For this new edition of Parcours Photo Sherbrooke, the works of artists Jean-François Dupuis, André Garant, and Yves Harnois will be showcased along the scenic promenade of Lac-des-Nations.
This year, the photographers have turned their gaze toward the delicate balance of the universe—from its smallest building blocks to its grandest expressions.
Is photography still a companion to science, as it was in its early days? Can photographic images shape—or even transform—our understanding of the universe that surrounds us, both vast and intimately close? These are the questions that unfold as we journey through this open-air exhibition.
EXHIBITION OPENING
The open-air launch of this exhibition will take place on September 3, 2025, at Station 1 (Place de la Gare / Grand Times Hotel) at 5:00 p.m. A lively accordion performance will set the tone, and all three artists will be present to meet the public. Following the opening remarks, guests will be invited to embark on a guided tour of the three photographic “stations” encircling Lac-des-Nations—a journey through imagination, science, and miniature worlds.

JEAN-FRANÇOIS DUPUIS
Station #1 : Place de la Gare
To bring this exhibition to life, photographer Jean-François Dupuis embarked on a creative residency at the Quantum Institute of the Université de Sherbrooke. Through his lens, he sought to capture the unseen labor of researchers who delve into the infinitesimal particles that shape our universe. His work invites us into a realm where science meets mystery, revealing the intricate beauty and profound complexity of the infinitely small.
Jean-François Dupuis is a seasoned photographer based in Sherbrooke, whose passion for the medium began at the age of sixteen. Over the years, he has cultivated a rich and diverse body of work, exploring countless subjects with depth and sensitivity. His photographs have graced numerous exhibition spaces, including the Antoine-Sirois Art Gallery in Sherbrooke, bearing witness to his enduring artistic journey.
YVES HARNOIS
Station # 2 : Camério (near rue Vanier)
The works presented by Yves Harnois stem from his whimsical series Miniature Worlds. This photographic collection playfully explores an imaginary universe at a tiny scale, where humor and curiosity intertwine. Through carefully crafted scenes featuring characters less than a centimeter tall, the artist invites us to suspend disbelief and wander into alternate realities shaped by imagination and wonder.
Yves Harnois is a Quebec-born artist from Granby, who has lived and worked in Sherbrooke since 1986. After completing his photography training in 1976, he pursued a vibrant career in the visual arts. His photographic work is well-regarded within the Sherbrooke arts community, and his creations have been showcased in numerous exhibitions, each one a testament to his poetic vision and enduring artistic voice.
ANDRÉ GARANT
Station # 3 : Parc Jacques-Cartier
With his unique hyper-macro photography technique, André Garant transports us into a world of radically different scale—the realm of insects. His project Anthropodes, presented as part of the 11th edition of Parcours Photo Sherbrooke, was created in collaboration with the Sherbrooke Museum of Nature and Science.
Using sophisticated lenses and microscopes, Garant offers a mesmerizing immersion into the microcosm of insect life, casting a fresh gaze on this parallel universe that thrives just beyond our everyday perception. His vision: to awaken public awareness to the intricate beauty and delicate complexity of these miniature ecosystems.
Garant is a photographer specializing in macro photography. A member of the Sherbrooke and Drummondville photo clubs, he shares his passion through engaging talks with diverse audiences. His work has been exhibited in numerous venues, including the Desjardins Museum of Photography in Drummondville, each show a window into the hidden elegance of the natural world.
