At first glance, the soft, welcoming world created by Cynthia Dinan-Mitchell is instantly captivating. Yet behind this lavish setting—where sumptuous textiles mingle with luxuriant patterns—lies a visual enigma. Inspired by Dutch still life, surrealism, and the baroque, the artist blurs boundaries through anachronisms and playful references. Her works move fluidly between painting, collage, wallpaper, and textile, inviting us to rethink the codes of art and ornamentation. But can we really trust first impressions?
From April to September, step into the botanical cabinet imagined by Cynthia Dinan-Mitchell: an intriguing universe where illusion and allusion meet.
